Daniel One year old birthday

I decided to move my post on Dan beginning with his one year old. I also intend to shift his blog over. His one year old birthday was attended by our care group members namely, Alan Su, Ellen, Jeffrey, Debbie, Francis, Roland, Tina, David and my friend Dr Edward and Stella. Amy's relatives turn up; Uncle Stanley, Wong-wong, Elisa, Gary, Andy, Corina, Vincent.

Daniel was abit tiny (my complain then) but by the time I write this, he is eating full swing and I am really proud of him. he can blow kisses, point to the `blue' power source protector and respond anytime to princess wow wow. He tried standing, very inquisite with gadget, crawled the whole house and ever ready with a grin.

Interactive Baby

He looks at me inquisitively. Ready to imitate or to be imitate. In any case if you coo the way he does, he rewards you with his pleasure. And he would hold your hand and participate in whatever he does. His tiny fingers palm and all only manage to hold one of your finger pointing anything that you have requested...brown safety plugs, the picture of a car, clapping on the table. I am grateful for Josie, indeed it was a brave move to bring her back and obviously a correct one. Am can really rest becos Dan seem to like her. Despite the pricy tag (1300) and Sat and Sun off...some how the peace (from knowing that Dan is happy and safe) and freedom (to paint the town red like you got no kids) is worth it

A Prodigy in The Making?

Is my Dan a baby genius?

I found him responding to concepts of words and objects. I mean the first sign is princess - wow wow is associated with our golden retriever `princess'. He knew where to look and would look around for Princess every time that words is mentioned. He would prop-up his head to see if the dog is around and it would never fail to silent his amidst of howls, or gaping his mouth to be `conveniently' fed when doggy is around (or mentioned). Now, he has conclusive showed that he can associated the word car or rabbit with the icon on his t-shirt. He would look down to his t-shirt and point at the object. I do not have conclusive proof due to insufficient empirical observations at the moment to say for sure he knows a car is car or a rabbit is the bunny that appears on the t-shirt but i shall conduct more experiments. He has yet to mentioned mama or papa but Em insisted that che-che is mentioned (big sister) by Dan. Am is forewarning me that we may have a superkid at hand and we have to prepare the financial resource to allow it to blossom. Talk about motivation (or pressure on over-eager parents). Well, business wise, it is improving with major restructing happening. Should be an interesting decade to live in.

The drummer and gadget kid

Dan nows crawly steadily. He have a penchant on tits (dad's unfortunately) and would see my tummy as a drum. Except he beats thems enthusistically without the stick. He looks the power switch. Despite putting safety caps, he unplug them and switch the on-off endlessly. He has the whole space downstairs at home and he would crawl from one end to the other almost effortlessly. He doesn't slip and fall although we were worried that without a carpet he may injure himself. We got him a walker and he has fun (and so we have rest, momentarily).I felt more guilty now that Dan has more time with Josie and us in general and me in particular. I am out most of the day (Starbuck) and night (PM) that there was little actual time together despite being in the same house. He sleeps with Josie but I am insistent that he sleep with us but his midnight feeding needs did not make it easy as Am is mostly busy and needed the rest at night. So it is only weekend that Dan is with us. Then I have my saturday functions. I must put a stop to all this and look at it healthily.I often carry him and murmured my pledge to do well to take good care of him. But all he needed is my time.

A Difficult Night

He is having a such as sleepness night yesterday. Refusing to sleep even though he is obviously tired. Fortunately there is Josie. We tried the bread at 12am he took it. He must have been hungry. I am worried about his weight. 9kg I think but he looks the same. Temperamental and he just doesn't look excited enough when he sees me. Maybe he just woke up.

Princess Wow Wow

Yes its been sometime since my last posting.Since then so many things had happened.Dan can now stand straight, smile and prop to attention whenever he hears Princess Wow Wow. Princess is our golden retriever and apparently Dan has found her a real curiosity item. He has his bout of crying during the nights especially the episode when I removed Josie for two weeks before reinstating her. She was absent for 2 consecutive Mondays, and I had decided that enough is enough. For 1300, I do not have to suffer Sat and Sun without a baby sitter and to have her absent without cause on Monday was just too much for me. Although I was able to find 2 replacement maids, none were as competent as Josie (and Dan knows the difference) and Am was really stress stricken...nervous breakdown, hysterical at times and publicly ranted at me at one point in the clinic. Hence when the second replacement who was nearly OK except she misses her son (back home), I decided not to put Am for another ordeal of training a new baby sitter and promptly offered back a grateful Josie her old job. After that, all were back to normal and the family seems to get back to `usual'. Even Jamilah was relief. Although on every Sat and Sun, I would surely mutter.Dan is a phenomenon. He smiles alot and apparently uttered his 2 words today. This was witnessed by Am and Jamilah, vaguely by Em. He echoed Mum's `Prin..cess'. His first word was `Chay chay' or sister (I suspected this was really unattested, and basically to please EM).I often hug Dan closely and whispered my promise to do well for him

A Giant Leap For Daniel

With his raised bum, he moved his left knee slightly forward and uses all the life in him to an inch closer to the object that appeals to his eye. An thus a new chapter is born. The baby MOVED!I was assailed with an initial amazement, pride and joy. And then the realization that the security feeling that he will not leave me will soon end...as the perimeter of pillows and bolsters has to be extended, side cushion installed and the floor be mercifully cushioned against any fall. And baby-proofing the house. After all these years (Em is coming to 9 years old) it is going to happen all over again. And I am closing 40 fast. I pray for stamina, energy, patience and sustained by love. And God, please bless me with more money to finance all this.Daniel look so hansome (like his Dad) and I hope as was prophesied during his baptism, he will excelled in sports and being blessed with ample opportunities.

And he rolls over

Our son now learns to roll over, on his stomach, head raise with a satisfied grin. He grins so much that his happiness is unmistakable. Amy frets over him all the time, is Daniel sleeping enough, is he drinking, why is he getting thinner and oh he is so cute etc etc etc. Em also does the same, always stealing a kiss which we frown because inevitably her long hair (ought to be trim were it not for her vehemous protest) took a swipe on Daniel's face. Joycee is doing a good job getting daniel to have enough sleep and food. He begun to take solid food about a week ago and life has never been the same. He drinks better now and his intake is increasing. One thing that daniel always does now is he coos audible for to hear when he is please...I wonder when he will utter his first word. I had him all by myself last weeked (beside Joyce and Jamilah) when Amy and EM went down to JB for her aunt's 60th birthday. I have had a great bonding time. I realise that I am more homebound now always looking forward to be with my family.
